The year’s most anticipated NFT x DeFi experience is ready for launch.

Singapore, February 24, 2021 — Pixelcraft Studios® announced today that Aavegotchi, the groundbreaking digital pet collectibles game, is set to launch on Tuesday, March 2 at 10am EST / 11pm SGT. The launch event will take place at Aavegotchi.com and feature an NFT (non-fungible token) drop that releases 10,000 Aavegotchi Portals for the public. Dubbed “Haunt One,” this launch release marks the first time fans of the game will be able to summon Aavegotchis.

Announced in the summer of 2020, Aavegotchi has garnered a reputation for combining bleeding-edge blockchain innovations with retro pixel art. Aavegotchi is one of the first major projects to go live on Matic, the Ethereum-compatible Layer 2 Solution for blockchain games and DeFi applications powered by Polygon.technology.

Unlike most NFT projects which utilize Web2 servers or IPFS, Aavegotchis exist entirely on the blockchain. Each ghost’s unique personality traits, staked cryptocurrencies, and even their visual elements are all stored permanently into the blockchain, strengthening their longevity and collectability. The naïve looking Aavegotchis also harness the power of DeFi with users staking Aave’s wide variety of interest-generating tokens directly into a particular Aavegotchi. This renders each Aavegotchi as a sort of rare, personality-filled piggy bank filled with growing yield.

In addition to the first 10,000 Portals being released, launch day will also see other key features go live. The Aavegotchi shop will go online, enabling users to purchase unique game items and power-ups and so too will their dedicated NFT marketplace, the Baazaar, a secondary market for users to trade and haggle over rare Aavegotchis. Finally, enthusiasts will be able to enjoy the benefits of trading NFTs on a layer 2 blockchain with transaction costs reduced to virtually zero. The marketplace supports all types of Aavegotchi NFTs and provides the first social venue for owners to show off their collections.

“It’s been a wild ride, from our token launch in September, to the decision to migrate to L2 back in January,” Pixelcraft Studios CEO Coder Dan shares. “Now the wait is finally over — Aavegotchis are coming!

After purchase, Aavegotchi Portals can be immediately traded on Aavegotchi’s Baazaar marketplace or any other NFT marketplace. Notably, Portals and the Aavegotchi they summon can also be bridged to the Ethereum mainnet as well.
