Aavegotchi NFT Backgrounds are live and ready to be equipped
Claim exclusive Haunt 1 backgrounds for your #GotchiGang
The wait is finally over! Many months ago, AavegotchiDAO voted to give Haunt 1 Aavegotchis special backgrounds to cement their OG status, and today that feature has finally been shipped.
Like all Gotchi wearables, these 100% on-chain backgrounds are displayed on the main dashboard, Baazaar NFT marketplace listings, and across any public leaderboards when equipped.
The Unfilled Slot
Since the March 2021 launch, each Aavegotchi’s equipping dashboard has shown a total of eight slots for wearables to be equipped.

- Left Hand
- Pet
- Background
While the other seven categories have enjoyed a wide array of wearable items, the background slot has been quietly waiting for the right opportunity to come to use.
Now, after months of iteration and development, we are excited to announce that the first on-chain background has finally been created, and can be claimed and equipped by all Haunt 1 Aavegotchis!
Unlike the other wearables, it is important to note that backgrounds are completely aesthetic in nature and do not offer any base rarity score or trait boosts. In this way, the backgrounds share more in common with the various Aavegotchi baadges that can be earned.
How to Claim Your Baackground
10,000 Haunt 1 Backgrounds are now available for claiming at a rate of one per Haunt 1 Aavegotchi. This particular Background is also programmed to be non-transferable. This means from now til forever, only Haunt 1 Aavegotchis can equip this beautiful portal-themed background!
This is exactly what AavegotchiDAO voted for in AGIP 5, oh so many months ago. After many iterations, this beautiful background is now ready for you to claim.
Simply head to the Airdrops page and click into “H1 Background” to claim backgrounds for your Aavegotchis. Once you’ve claimed, you will still need to manually equip each background on your Aavegotchi.
NOTE: For some players with large amounts of Aavegotchis, one transaction may not be enough. Please contact us if you are unable to claim for your massive Gotchi flock.
Don’t Have an Aavegotchi Yet? You still have time!
Aavegotchi is an NFT game owned and governed by the community. Aavegotchi’s governing body the AavegotchiDAO voted to give Haunt 1 Aavegotchis dedicated Background wearables. Likewise, the DAO recently voted to mint 15,000 more Aavegotchis in Haunt 2, which are scheduled to arrive in the latter part of August.
These 15,000 new Portals will be distributed 80% via #Bid2Earn Auction, and 20% via Drop Ticket Raffle.
In a Bid2Earn Auction, the losing bidder immediately receives GHST when being outbid, and a Drop Ticket Raffle gives smaller players a great chance to get their first Portal, even with just one ticket!

Haunt 2 is on track to launch in the second half of August, and is shaping up to be the most ebic NFT x DeFi event of the year with thousands of frens coming together for many days of bidding, raffling, and winning.
