Aavegotchi — The Road to Mainnet

One of the questions we get asked most is, “When will Aavegotchis be live?”.

Now that the GHST token launch is complete, our core devs Coderdan and Nick Mudge want to share their vision of how Aavegotchi will be developed.

Traditionally, smart contracts go through a lengthy planning, building, testing, auditing phase that can take weeks (months? years??) to complete. While that method may work for some teams, we at Aavegotchi believe it is too slow, too inefficient.

We propose a new development flow, one that builds on the latest innovations in Solidity smart contract development, and also leverages the tremendous power and energy of our Aavegotchi fam.

Using the Diamond Standard, an upgradeable contract standard that allows for iterative upgrades without changing contract addresses, we’ll be building Aavegotchi publicly, pushing updates directly to your testnet Aavegotchis each week in realtime.

Initially, the functionality of your testnet Aavegotchi will be limited, but as development progresses, your Aavegotchi will evolve and unlock new functionality.

Over the coming weeks, you’ll be able to buy Portals, claim Aavegotchis, stake collaterals, and much, much more, all on the Kovan testnet.

Along the way, we’ll have bug bounties where community members knowledgeable in the ways of Solidity can battletest our contracts.

Finally, once primary development has finished, we will use funds from the AavegotchiDAO tap to pay for an audit of our smart contract suite before launching on Mainnet.
